Plan For Paris: Travel Notes

Today’s Bop: Little Mix – “Woman Like Me”

Okay so I’ve booked myself a weekend getaway in Paris at the end of this month, even though I’m supposed to be saving as much money as I can so I can run away again (but I’m still on target so I’m sweet.)

Why Paris? Because I have this sudden sense of urgency that I must go and see The Rose, a Korean rock band reminiscent of Coldplay, NELL and Snow Patrol. I could’ve chosen another city where they were performing, somewhere that wasn’t so expensive.

“Who are The Rose and why do you want to see them so much?” I hear no one ask, and so I shall answer. The ROSE:

Why do I want to see them so much?

The front man and lead vocalist: Woosung.

This man (yes MAN everyone in this band is the same age as me – hurrah for mid-twenties) has the actual voice of an angel. I don’t know how he does what he does with his voice, but I could listen to him sing all day. It’s an old saying but ‘totes emosh’ is really really fitting.

But along with really wanting to see The Rose, I also really really wanted to see Paris.

I can’t count how many times I’ve transited through Charles de Gaulle airport, but have I set foot on French soil? Have I balls, so now the time has finally come and I’m already trying to style outfits in my head because I will be Instagramming the shit out of that city lmao.

I’ve deliberately chosen a hostel that is:

a) close to the concert venue which my lovely friend has informed me is tiny af
b) close to the touristy spots and there are about 10,000 Laudree shops nearby

I mention Laudree shops cause I wanna eat macaroons and feel like I’m walking through an episode of  拜金女王.

Naturally my love for filling myself with delicious food means I’m on the hunt for nice and not astronomically priced patisseries, but I’ve come up with a list of things I’d like to do in Paris:

#1: Take a Picture with the Eiffel Tower.

Basically this is a ‘pics or it didn’t happen’ kinda to-do – nothing more.

#2 Explore Le Marais

This was from a recommendation by my favourite YouTuber Taylor R in her “The Perfect Day In Paris” video – mostly because, while I don’t mind touristy things, I really hate crowds because I walk like a woman on a mission and I get very annoyed very quickly with slow people.

Know where there’s a lot of slow people?

So apparently this is a nice and quieter area where there are a lot of boutiques, cafes and vintage shopping, which leads onto my next item

#3 Vintage Shopping

I think my appreciation for vintage shopping appeared this year when my sister recommended I try rooting through the vintage stores in Tokyo because she was able to find some really amazing deals. And so during my trip to Tokyo, I spent my time rummaging through the clothing rails of vintage stores in Shibuya and Harajuku, where I only ended up buying one cute sweater, but I was really amazed at the prices these clothes were being sold for and the high quality.

Upon arriving back in Korea, I discovered that in the area I lived in in Busan (Busan University) there was a crapton of vintage stores right under my nose that I had been sleeping on the entire time. Most of those stores actually carried only Japanese brands but there were some that did American and European etc.

I love bargain hunting, so my goal is to find something nice for less than 10 euro.

#4 Eat Cheesecake

Strawberry cheesecake in 4 easy steps

I just really fucking love cheesecake, but after doing some quick research I think I’m gonna aim to try either She’s Cake by Sephora or Boulangerie Aki, both of which look absolutely divine and I’ll probably end up trying several things from both.

I’ll order 3 at time.

I have no shame when it comes to food.

#5 Take Myself Out For A Fancy Dinner

In accordance with the theme of “I have no shame when it comes to food” that also includes not giving a toss about going out to eat alone. I don’t have anywhere in particular in mind for this, but I’m gonna research it more over the next couple weeks.

I do pretty much everything alone as it is and eating is not an exception to that.

There’s less judgement. Like if I wanna order two desserts because I can’t choose, I’ll order two.

I’ve definitely never done that before.

Hope you’re all well
