Junk book shop, Kuala Lumpur

Here’s a little hidden gem of Kuala Lumpur. Junk is a secondhand and seconds book store on the border of Chinatown in KL. You might not notice it as you walk past, as the door is not well labelled or inviting, but it’s well worth looking for. It claims to be the biggest of its kind in Malaysia, as verified by the Malaysia book of records in 1998.

Junk has a very chaotic layout, though if you have a book in mind the owners will try to help you find it. There are stacks and shelves of a huge variety of books and magazines. I spent nearly an hour looking through this delightful place, negotiating its narrow aisles and seemingly dangerous upper floor.

If you like old books, then this is the place to go. Some of the books might be a little pricy for second hand, but most are still reasonable. Very friendly staff!
